Mar Martínez, responsible for the Emesa Tunnel Security Area, was one of the speakers at the first International Congress of Safety in Confined Spaces and Underground Working Sites (ECOS), organised by the Hunosa Group, which took place in Oviedo between 27th November and 29th November.
The event, promoted by the State Participation Society (SEPI), associated with the Ministry of Finance, assembled national and international experts from different professional fields for a multidisciplinary vision on safety in confined spaces and underground working sites, as well as prevention and intervention of incidents and accidents recorded at these sites. The meeting was considered to be of great interest to professionals in the sector, companies, public bodies and security forces and bodies.
On the first day of the congress, Mar Martínez delivered a presentation entitled “Procedures related to safety in interventions within the tunnels of the M-30“, sharing knowledge on the tunnels as “confined spaces” and concrete data on development of the projects, numbers of users of the tunnels and statistics for incidents and response times. A second section focused on the security facilities of the tunnels, highlighting the importance of emergency response.
At the close of the congress, the participants visited Hunosa’s Santiago mine, located in Aller, Asturias, to attend a drill conducted by different members of the security body in their intervention both outside the facilities and inside the mine. This was followed by attendees in real-time through a live broadcast that you can see here.
